The Friday the 13th series never reach the highs of the first Halloween, nor do they match the creativity of Nightmare on Elm Street 3, but they are far move entertaining as a whole than both those franchises. Especially the Halloween series, which I also want to review, but DAMN getting through some of those movies is tough.
So, without further ado, I'm going to give each of my "students" their grades for the year. And, just as in life, just because I give a bad grade doesn't mean I don't love the kid all the same! She, and her boyfriend are just not very memorable. Plus, she has a very uncomfortable and rather off-tone back story, and is upstaged by another character in the movie, Vera Sanchez. I really liked Vera, and her relationship with Shelly was fun to watch. Wish Vera got to be the final girl with Shelly fighting by her side, but at least she got a memorable death.

Otherwise, there are too many unconnected characters who show up just to get killed. It has one of the most surprising kills, considering the killer wasn't Jason, which taught me to never bother anyone who is angrily chopping wood. Of all the films, this is the one I keep wanting to revisit with a fresh perspective, so perhaps one day I may return with another assessment. I suppose, like that lovable odd-ball student in class, it is appropriate that I will keep giving it chances to improve its grade.
